This training will provide military spouses with the essential leadership skills to thrive as individuals, at home, and within their communities, empowering them to become the leaders and catalysts for change that they aspire to be and that their communities need.

*Completion of this training does NOT guarantee acceptance to other trainings offered through LIMS. Students may only participate in one program at a time.

LEADERSHIP AND STRENGTHS

Corie Weathers, licensed professional counselor (LPC), is a sought-after speaker, consultant, and award-winning author. Corie has focused her career for the last 20 years as a clinician specializing in marriage, the military culture, special forces, and leadership development. She has traveled internationally to visit troops and report on deployment conditions and has taught service families across the globe. In addition to providing subject matter expertise on military culture, Corie consults organizations and institutions on building trust, creating impactful programming, and working within a multi-generational team. Her advocacy has included being a part of Second Lady Karen Pence’s Military Spouse’s Employment Working Group and contributing to the passing of a Congressional Bill for licensure portability.

Self-Awareness: Encouraging personal reflection and self-assessment to identify strengths and areas for growth, applying and investing in them to create real change.

Understanding the Journey: Exploring an individual's journey and leadership within the military lifestyle.

Goal Setting: Facilitating goal-setting strategies to help individuals articulate and pursue their personal, professional and leadership aspirations.

Preparing for the Unexpected: Enhancing, understanding and equipping military families with the essential skills and resources needed to navigate the uncertainties of life and the military lifestyle.

Unexpected Stressors: preparing for unexpected personal and community stressors or a crisis. 

Skill Development: Leadership as an individual and in the community. Introduction to Meta Leadership and Leadership in Crisis. 

Mentorship & Relationship Builder: Meaningful peer support and connections with peers to build a supportive community.

LEADERSHIP AND THE UNEXPECTED

Krista Simpson Anderson is the proud wife of a recently retired Green Beret and the Gold Star spouse of Green Beret SSG Michael H. Simpson who passed on 1 May 2013 from wounds sustained in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Eastern Afghanistan. She is the mother of two boys.

Krista believes tragedy does not need to end our story but can provide the opportunity to create a new chapter with greater purpose. She lives this out through the many opportunities she has been given to make an impact in our community. Krista co-founded The Unquiet Professional in 2013, an organization that provides healthy and empowering opportunities to Gold Star and Surviving families, Veterans and their families. Krista also serves as the Surviving Family Liaison and board member for the Green Beret Foundation, the Vice President for Gold Star Sailing Foundation and is a member of the United States Army’s Survivor Advisory Working Group (reporting directly to the Chief of Staff of the Army) and the OSD Casualty Reform Working Group (reporting to the Secretary of Defense), the USAA Advisory Panel and the Caliber Home Loan Military Spouse Advisory Council.

Brittany Boccher is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in community engagement, program management, and strategic advisory roles. She is the founder of the Discovering Your Spark brand, a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering individuals to establish personal and professional strategies for a fulfilling life.

As a military spouse of a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and the mother of two children, including one dual diagnosed with Down syndrome and Autism, Brittany brings a unique perspective to her work. She is a passionate advocate for creating inclusive, supportive communities and uses her personal experiences to inspire others to overcome challenges and embrace their purpose.

Brittany’s expertise lies in developing impactful programs that drive meaningful change, fostering connections, and empowering individuals to thrive. Her dedication to helping others discover their spark and achieve balance in life makes her a trusted leader and advisor in both personal and professional development spaces.
